LATEST animated series for children Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures (TV2, 9am, today) comes from the popular 1960s cartoon series, but has a new 90s look.
Turning over a technological leaf, it still features the old characters, Jonny and the Quest team made up of Hadji, Race Bannon, Dr Quest and Bandit, but with new, more sophisticated appearances.
Race's teenage daughter, Jessie, has joined the team to help solve mysteries as it courts danger in reality and virtual reality.
Jonny has aged, from 10 to 14, and Hanna-Barbera Cartoons president Fred Seibert said he is more "pumped and sculpted as are the other characters now that we live in a more exercise-oriented society".
The series explores the wildest shores of fiction from the realities of the Amazon jungle to the exotic reaches of virtual reality where technology and cyberspace mingle to create QuestWorld.
It features breakthrough 3-D techniques used for the first time in television animation -- the same kind Disney used in Toy Story -- and programme makers say they have avoided mindless violence, chauvinism, xenophobia and insensitivity.
